A Sleeping Lion
by EE Winkler
Shh…be very quiet
whisper, don’t shout
there’s a sleeping lion we don’t want to disrupt
he’s stretched out reclined in his den
but with one shout you’ll find him awake again
his eyes will open slowly like a shade
to reveal his large golden eyes glistening beneath his mane
Shhh…be very quiet
whisper, don’t shout
there’s a sleeping lion we don’t want to disrupt
although he might look like a cuddly friend
he’s the king of the jungle and he’ll make sure you know it
with a single pounce he can jump over 10 feet
and there before our eyes the lion will be
our feet are not fast enough to outrun his
and if it was a race, well the lion would win
Shhh…be very quiet
whisper, don’t shout
there’s a sleeping lion we don’t want to disrupt
all around him his pride is sleeping
but with his orders you’ll find them creeping
seeking a prey for their dinner to be
when the lion awakes he’ll be alert and hungry
Shhh…be very quiet
whisper, don’t shout
there’s a sleeping lion we don’t want to disrupt
