Healthy, nurturing and soothing golden tinted beverage that’s naturally caffeine free and packed full of antioxidants and nutrients.

What is Golden Milk?

Golden milk is turmeric milk infused with spices and traditionally made with a plant-based milk. Turmeric gives it it’s signature golden color but warming spices like cinnamon, ginger and cardamom provide more depth and flavor.

How to Make Golden Milk

1.) Gather your ingredients. You can start with fresh turmeric or ground turmeric.

2.) Choose a milk of your choice. I love the taste of coconut milk when I’m making golden milk but feel free to sub any milk you have on hand. Adjust or leave out the maple syrup if you’re starting with a sweetened milk.

3.) Stir and simmer. You don’t want to boil the milk, but let it heat through and stir it  occasionally. When it’s frothy, remove from the heat and serve immediately.

Is Golden Milk Make Ahead Friendly?

Sure, you can make it up to three days ahead of time but just know that the spices will settle so be sure to stir it well or if it’s in a jar with a good lid, you can shake it up to ensure that it’s well blended.

Can You Drink Golden Milk Cold?

Sure, just pour over ice or refrigerate instead of heating up on the stove.

Can You Microwave Golden Milk?

Sure, you can microwave it. It might not get as frothy in the microwave and be sure to take it out and stir it at least halfway in between heating.

Are There Health Benefits in Golden Milk?

Yes, there are! Turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Paired with other anti-inflammatory spices like ginger and cinnamon, which are naturally warming spices that aid in digestion, alleviate nausea, and support overall immunity.

Why Drink Golden Milk?

It’s delicious, beautiful healthy and cost effective. Once you have the spices on hand, it’s really only a matter of stirring them together with the milk. Golden milk is naturally caffeine free but feels like you’re drinking a fancy latte or cafe beverage.

Fresh Turmeric vs. Ground Turmeric

You can use fresh or ground turmeric to make golden milk. I love using ground turmeric because I can keep a jar on hand in my cupboard or even in my desk drawer. Fresh turmeric is lovely but it can be difficult to find and expensive. If you do plan on using fresh turmeric, wash it and cut it into small pieces or grate it. Then you can easily filter out the pieces before you serve it and enjoy.
